Help · How to pay for the bus

Where do I buy a ticket between cities?

You buy the ticket at the terminal, at an agency or on the company website. Each company sets its price from the per-kilometre fare set by the Ministry of Transport.

To travel from one city to another, such as from Montevideo to Punta del Este, each company sells its own ticket. Garita doesn't sell tickets.

  1. On the company's website: COT has “Comprá tu pasaje” at cot.com.uy. When we checked, online sales were not available, so confirm first.
  2. At the Tres Cruces terminal in Montevideo, or at a company agency.
  3. By phone, at 2409 4949, for COT bookings.

How much it costs

The Ministry of Transport sets a base value per kilometre (decree of June 29, 2026: $3.41 for short distance, $3.29 for medium and long regional, and $3.34 for long central routes), and each company builds its ticket price from it. At Tres Cruces a boarding fee is added: $9, $18 or $29 depending on distance, and $35 on international routes. You see the final price when you buy.

On Garita you can see which intercity bus is coming to your stop, but you buy the ticket from the company.
